A Local Universal “3-Pack” has replaced the horizontal carousel display on the search engine results page (SERP) as of late November 2014. 3-Pack results appear after the pay-per-click (PPC) results (top 3 links highlighted in a yellow box) and before organic results. This change appears on both desktop and mobile devices!
There are two types of user actions possible from the 3-Pack:
⇨ Users can click on any of those 3 Listings and be taken to the business’ details view, which feeds directly from Google My Business. For certain verticals, such as hotels and restaurants, users can now see the price listed.
⇨When a user clicks on the “More” option at the bottom of the first 3 Listings, the user will see a full view of other local results with a large map on the right hand side of the page.
It is very important to have an up-to-date Google My Business page because the 3-Pack results are based on the top algorithmically ranked listings. The more information Google has about your business, the more it will understand your relevancy to the searcher.
