Pinterest for Creative Business Branding

If you’re one of the many business savvy people out there using Pinterest to brand your company, then you’re already ahead of the game. Since its inception, Pinterest’s growth has been astronomical. The platform is unique – an online “pinboard” where posters can pin or bookmark photos, recipes, articles, infographs – basically anything they find relevant to their own unique ‘boards.” The concept has taken off, and it’s all in the name of self expression.

Pinterest is not only a great way to personally brand yourself, but it’s also the perfect way to bring out your business’ personality. Because Pinterest is so engaging, you can be really creative in how you use the platform. Business owners use Pinterest to establish brand authority. By providing useful information to your followers, you’ll showcase your ability to educate consumers on your product, which in turn creates brand trust. You can use Pinterest as a promotional tool for your product, which when thrown into the mix with other unique pins that are both brand related and fun, you’re creating customer appeal based on relatability. Pinterest also drives traffic back to user’s sites, and in a big way.

Pinterest will soon roll out a new intuitive feature called “Related Pins.” This function exposes users to suggested pins relevant to the user based on their recent searches, likes, boards followed, or pins. To better understand the reasoning behind the feature, think Google Autofill. Google’s Autofill function has been around for a while, and many people would agree that its ability to predict our every want and need is nothing short of a luxury. The idea behind it is to create a more accessible product.

Pinterest plans to roll out these change slowly, and smartly by not shocking users with a total overhaul of its algorithm. They’re relying heavily on the success of this new feature through user response. Related Pins are featured on a user’s feed, and labeled as such with a Thumbs Up and a Thumbs Down icon similar to a feature Pandora uses. Additionally, Pinterest is opening up API to retailers who wish to exhibit their most popular pins directly on their site. ‘Popular Pins’ will update in real time while users are actively interacting with Pinterest.
