Native Advertising, the Hot Spot in Digital Media

If you’re not already embracing native advertising then you’ll be left in the dust of competitors taking advantage of this imperative aspect of marketing. Native advertising mirrors the formatting and style of the platform on which it appears, creating a seamless experience for consumers. This approach has proven to be more effective than traditional digital ads, such as banner ads, and results in much higher click through rates.

Prime examples of native ads are search ads that appear above organic search engine results and social media ads that appear within the timelines of individuals. Many consumers aren’t even able to discern the difference between native ads and natural content, which is the true beauty of native advertising.

There’s no wonder that spending on native ads has been increasing at one of the fastest rates in the digital media landscape. According to research data from Business Insider, spending on native ads will reach an estimated $10.7 billion in 2015 and will grow to approximately $21 billion in 2018.

A research study by CMO.com looked into the advantages of native advertising and discovered these key findings:

  • Consumers are 25% more likely to look at a native ad than at a banner ad, and they look at them 53% more frequently.
  • Consumers are more likely to share a native ad with others (32% versus 19%) and showed 18% more purchase intent after viewing them.
  • A native ad campaign by car maker Mini Cooper on Buzzfeed resulted in a 33% brand lift.
  • 81% of marketers are looking to increase audience engagement and promote brand visibility through native ads.
