Top Video Marketing Stats 2016


It seems like everyday, there’s a new statistic on the future of video on the web. We’ve produced multiple videos and blogs on this topic, but since the numbers keep changing, it’s time for another! I run the video department here at Ferocious Media, as well as my own YouTube channel, so I make it a point to pay very close attention to these statistics. Here are some of the most important ones to date:

Let’s start with conversion rates. Here are the big 5…

  1. Video in an email leads to a 200-300% increase in click-through rate.
  2. Including video on a landing page can increase conversion by 80%.
  3. Combining video with full page ads boosts engagement by 22%.
  4. After watching a video, 64% of users are more likely to buy a product online.
  5. YouTube reports that mobile video consumption rises 100% every year.

That last one really blows me away. You mean to tell me that next year, twice as many people will be watching videos on their phones as this year?

Next up, let’s see who’s using video in the business world…

  1. 87% of online marketers use video content.
  2. 65% of marketers plan to increase their mobile ad budgets to account for video.
  3. 22% of small businesses in the United States plan to post a video in the next 12 months.

Let’s think about that for a second. That means only 1 in 5 small businesses will be posting a video in the next year. If you ask me, that’s going to be a HUGE advantage to that 22%.

Lastly, let’s take a look at User Interaction…

  1. 90% of users say that product videos are helpful in the decision process.
  2. 80% of users recall a video ad they viewed in the past 30 days.
  3. The average user is exposed to an average of 32.3 videos per month.
  4. 36% of online consumers trust video ads.
  5. 33% of all online activity is spent watching video.

You read that last one correctly, 1/3 of ALL INTERNET ACTIVITY is video.

Honorable Mention…

96% of B2B organizations use video in their marketing campaigns, and 73% of them report positive results to their ROI. I like those odds. For comparison, that would be the equivalent of a .760 batting average in baseball, and we haven’t seen anything close to that since my Little League days!
